WHAT IS A SILENT AUCTION? An auction is like a sale--people will have a chance to buy items that have been donated by artists. People have a chance of buying this item by making a bid, that is, they write an amount of money that they would be willing to pay on a sheet of paper near the art. Another person may come by and want the same item so he/she may offer more money, making a higher bid. At the end of the auction, the person with the highest bid goes home with the item.
The animals really appreciate your support and so do we.
Thank you and don't forget to bring your checkbook or cash as all sales must occur this night! Sorry, we do not take credit cards.THE AUCTION HAS ENDED BUT SOME OF THE WORKS ARE STILL AVAILABLE FOR SALE: To view the online gallery of work and pictures from the event click HERE.

May 17, 2007 - May 31, 2007 ART à PORTER
OPENING RECEPTION: THURSDAY, MAY 17, 2007, 6PM- 8PM
The Carrozzini von Buhler Gallery presents Art à Porter a group exhibition focusing on the idea of art as a decorative statement. Artistic identity and differences surface in this show featuring a collaboration of thirteen Italian artists and one American artist. Featured artists include: Luisa Bergamini, Milvia Botticelli, Marina Calamai, Giacomo Cavina, Annamaria Cimbal, Roberto Corso, Laura Di Mauro, Franco Di Pede, Anna Galli, Ruggero Maggi, Sofia Rocchetti, Fabio Savoldi, Christine Walli. Art à Porter will be on view from May 17th through May 31st, 2007. An opening reception for the exhibition will be held on Thursday, May 17, 6pm – 8pm.
For Art à Porter, fantasy displaces reality as artists transform the definition and use of everyday fashion accessories. Expanding the boundaries of fashion beyond their traditional roots to a conceptual, dream world, the artists create new definitions of art and object. The associative relationship between fashion and art is completely divided to reveal two distinct and autonomous realms.
The body is viewed as a vessel for transporting art in place of our everyday garments and accessories. Ultimately, artists become a part of the show, performing as “living sculptures, further exploring the irony of viewing and interpreting art. Familiar articles we wear are replaced with art forms; a shoe becomes a sculpture and a coat becomes a painting. Replacing the familiar with the surreal engages viewers to analyze choice of individual objects and their relationship to the whole material and organic form.
Art à Porter is organized by D’Ars IEP International Exhibition Project (Milan – New York – Beijing). An extensive catalogue on CD accompanies the exhibition and is available at The Carrozzini Von Buhler Gallery.
